Aviation. The multi-disciplinary degree will offer students the chance to obtain their

Commercial Pilot’s Licence while completing an undergraduate degree.

Mount Allison University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Robert Campbell, says,

“This is a great day for Mount Allison, the Moncton Flight College, and the region as a

whole. The new Bachelor of Science (Aviation) program is the first degree program of its

kind in Atlantic Canada and draws together both Mount Allison’s and the Moncton Flight

College’s strength in teaching and training. It also reflects the growing demand for

professionals with a liberal arts education and critical thinking skills and combines this

with hands-on training to prepare them for the next step.”

“For many years pilot training experienced few alterations to its delivery ….now

however we are seeing dramatic changes,” stated Captain Mike Doiron, Principal and

CEO of the Moncton Flight College. “This partnership represents two major world-wide

developments that are happening in flight training,” continued Doiron. “….the move

toward University degree programs and academies that are connecting directly to airlines

for pilot provisioning.”

TheMoncton Flight College is recognized by the Canadian Armed Forces for having

flight training standards comparable to their own. "Upon graduation students will qualify

to enrol as an officer in Canada’s Armed Forces and they will progress through pilot

training much faster..." stated General Lou Cuppens, former Deputy Commander-in-

Chief of NORAD and current President and CEO of NBADA, the New Brunswick

Aerospace Defense Association. “The partners in this undertaking are a natural fit,”

stated Cuppens, “as they both carry significant credibility and expertise in their respective

activities. They will be generating coveted, well trained pilots and aviation specialists.”

The new Bachelor of Science in Aviation will welcome its first students this September.

The interdisciplinary major will cover basic geography and environmental science, math

and computer science, chemistry, physics, as well as upper-level aviation courses.

Students will also have the opportunity to engage in Mount Allison’s rich liberal arts

curriculum, while receiving hands-on pilot training at the Flight College — graduating

with a Bachelor of Science as well as their commercial pilot licence with multi-engine

and instrument flight rules ratings.
